The lime reagent is produced by burning limestone (CaCO 3) in a kiln, then mixing with water to make a slurry. The dry product is removed as a powder from the bottom of the chamber by pneumatic or mechanical handling equipment. The powder contains the sulphur, chloride and other impurities from the flue gas and has no large scale commercial use.
